Registration Rights

This full/partial registration rights program is an effort on the part of concerned breeders and the AKC to stop the spread of "puppy mills" and to limit indiscriminant breeding.

Full registration rights = Your new puppy is a truly AKC-registered, 100% West Highland White Terrier. If he/she is bred, his/her puppies will be eligible for AKC registration. Your puppy will be eligible to enter all AKC events, including confirmation.

Limited registration rights = Your new puppy is a truly AKC-registered 100% West Highland White Terrier. If he/she is bred, his/her puppies will not be eligible for registration with the AKC. Your puppy will be eligible to enter most AKC events such as obedience and agility trials, but not confirmation shows.

Some puppies from the same litter may be sold with limited registration rights & others with full registration rights.

Morganbrugh Adoption Policies

Most of our puppies may be adopted as "pets" with "limited registration rights". Pets should be adorable, healthy Westies, but not quite show quality. Most dogs, even from champion lines, are not show quality! Occasionally, a particularly fine puppy may be adopted with "full registration rights" to selected prospective puppy parents for breeding or show. We do not sell to puppy mills or wholesale buyers/distributors. We are not trying to be snobby and we do not object to our best puppies being bred, but we do object to them being treated like chickens in broiler houses!
